FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DBC ACTIVE SPINE CARE® TREATMENT NOW AVAILABLE IN CALIFORNIA
LOS GATOS, ca - September 13, 2005 - DBC Active Spine Care® technology is now available at SpineOne located in Los Gatos, CA. This is the first facility in California to offer DBC (Documentation Based Care) and one of only 12 licensed-centers in the country. The development comes as a result of collaboration between DBC America and SpineOne, a Los Gatos based spine rehabilitation center.
FACT : Neck and back pain is a modern epidemic. Up to 80% of people will experience back pain at some point in their lives. Once a person has had an episode, they are 4 times as likely to have a recurrence within 2 years. This may help explain why back pain is only second to the common cold as the leading cause of days missed from work.
SpineOne started providing comprehensive neck and back pain services this past June. The center is the result of four doctors – Michael Post, Allen Kaisler-Meza, Ronald Fujimoto and Darrell Bruga – who believe that taking an active, rather than passive approach to back care delivers the most effective results. They are also committed to taking a whole person approach that emphasizes personal responsibility, interdisciplinary collaboration and individualized solutions. The result is a spine center committed to both excellence and an evidence-based treatment approach.
Rather than relying on old outdated therapies like heat, ultrasound and massage, the focus has shifted to active exercise methods to overcome chronic pain and disability. SpineOne offers this treatment option for patients.
"The DBC Active Spine Care Program is the most advanced outcome-driven technology combined with the highest quality in clinical care," says Dr. Darrell Bruga of SpineOne in Los Gatos, CA. "DBC provides the perfect compliment to the other interdisciplinary services available at SpineOne to allow us to help our patients achieve optimal function and mobility."
"We were looking for research-based protocols that deliver predictable outcomes. DBC (Documentation Based Care) has an international presence and has published over 40 research articles addressing clinical outcomes; return to work results and overall functional improvement. It was a logical fit," says board-certified physiatrist and pain specialist Dr. Michael Post, one of the directors in SpineOne.
Mr. Duke Nishimura, President and CEO of DBC America stresses that the efficacy of the DBC method has been proven in peer-reviewed, randomized controlled trials.
"We see so many patients that have been caught up in the never-ending treatment cycle with little resolution. At DBC, we want to get patients out of the treatment cycle and back to as normal healthy lives as possible", Mr. Nishimura says.
