Documentation Based Care
Documentation Based Care (DBC)
Documentation Based Care (DBC) is a medical protocol company registered in Finland. Founded in 1991, DBC develops and offers musculoskeletal disorder therapies, helping curb the rising disability costs in European and other industrialized countries. All therapies are developed through validated scientific research with testing in fully documented clinical practice. SpineOne partners with DBC and is dedicated and committed to evidence-based medicine. Our partnership gives patients the greatest possible outcomes.
Articles published by DBC Researchers
DBC offers referring healthcare professionals and third-party payers a complete management system for back and neck problems thorough a comprehensive approach. DBC therapies are:
- Documented treatment protocols published in highly regarded scientific literature
- Validated by testing and follow-up protocols
- Patented technology and high-tech FDA medical devices for active rehabilitation and measurement
- Supported by a quality assurance system promoting results similar to outcomes published in journals
- Backed by continuous scientific research to improve DBC system outcomes
DBC is currently available in 22 countries in more than 100 facilities, treating more than 30,000 patients to date. SpineOne is proud to be the first and only DBC facility in California. DBC’s international facilities results are consistent with reliable and sustainable outcomes. The results from each of its more than 100 DBC facilities are aggregated into a centralized database and analyzed biannually to ensure network quality assurance. They generate a report card for each center to continually elevate their success benchmark, while offering individualized DBC physician reports for referring physicians showing their patient’s results with DBC.
Results are impressive. In their functional restoration programs, exercises performed on FDA-approved medical rehabilitation devices direct toward specific ailing musculoskeletal system deficits. Patient pain and disability diminishes while function is improved and controlled using a cognitive-behavioral approach. DBC studies published in leading peer-reviewed journals demonstrate that 83 percent of back patients experience significant pain relief and 75 percent experienced increased strength and mobility. A study demonstrated that patients completing the DBC program who continued to exercise maintained results and had significantly lower work absenteeism two years after the DBC program completion.

“There should be a fundamental change in management strategy of chronic low back pain directed towards early active rehabilitation and return to work. It should be based on physical, psychological and social needs of the individual patient.”
